2020 VOTE!

How I work my way through a ballot.

How I work my way through a ballot.

Drinkin' & Thinkin' ...possibly Stinkin'

I don't know how anyone else does it, but I sit down with the voter guide, LA Times, Green Party LA website (that's my party), online progressive voter's guide--then I open every pertinent website in a series of tabs. Every measure, nominee, judge, etc. Every. Pertinent. Website. Then I grab a random bottle of rot-gut and spend the next several hours working my way through the ballot. It's my system, and it works for me.

I was a Republican from 1992 'till 2008 and came from a long line of proud Republicans that vote with their heart (my Grandfather both embraced the "n-word" and thought Jessie Jackson should'a won in 1984). I'm a progressive voter. I'm not red-team/blue-team. I'm probably not going to vote based on who is the oldest and whitest.

The drink of champions.

The drink of champions.

This year I asked my in-laws to provide a random bottle from their stash. They have a collection of 30-year-old (or older) liquors from the days when my father-in-law went door-to-door selling satellites. That is how it was in the 80s-90s.

This bottle was one of a few selected items, but I like the way the bottle looked so... tumbler, ice, shokoshu. The shokoshu had turned into vinegar, but the train had already left the station. Whoo whoo!

This was difficult because there were 2 props with the same name in CA. One for Stem Cells and another for Primary Election changes. Two VERY different meanings and the same name. CA has more Nobel prize winners than anywhere else in the world so we started off with a Mensa test.

More money for schools? What happened to the money we just gave you? ...on the other hand, it taxes the rich...it's about time we started on that trickle-down!

Diversity when hiring. I know this is touchy, but people ain't special because of their meats. Left says YES but they don't say what actually changes. I find it hard to believe that helping schools and politicians segregate who gets what will end racism as preached...

You can vote after you served time in Prison? You shouldn't be able to take away an American's right to vote. So ...YES! This is what I'm talking about! This is one of the things that makes voting feel so good.

Children can vote in primaries and special elections? Yes! Also, let's lower the drinking age to match the voting age. If it's a special election or primary they are going to need it--like a glass of wine on the first Christmas after your parents get divorced.

Rent control! This is one of those props where no one is actually against it. At least no one brave enough to show their names. I'm very surprised people voted to pay higher rent while 18.8% of Americans are unemployed.

Very sad to see this get passed. The idea that you use an App to get work means you don't deserve healthcare is pretty terrible. Having been a contractor who had to buy his own equipment and software, it is not a good feeling to work with a team and be all alone.

Consume privates. People who are against it say it doesn't do enough, and the people who are for it say, "listen this is what you get, if you want more maybe try remembering my birthday, or the names of my pets. Be happy you are getting this."
